First Swim at the YMCA

So, Eric's been a member of the YMCA for some time, and we decided it was time to join as a family. They have a pool and open swim different times during the week. Our friend Denise called ans said she was taking her girls, who Rylie plays with often, and asked if we wanted to come along. Another girlfriend of ours, Tina, was also going along with her two children.

We got all dressed and ready to go. Rylie is so excited- we really think she understood where we were going.

She could hardly wait to get in the water. She was like a fish! I dunked her for the first time. She was soon counting with me, "1, 2, 3, under!" The pool had a lot of kids in it. It is a really cool place with a lazy river that pushes you along, a circular part that will push you along too, a slide with water part for little kids, and lap swimming too. Everything was all well and good until the SLIDE.

Rylie wanted to go down the slide, which was fine, but she wanted to go by herself, which Eric and I were leery about. So, Eric would take her down, but then she got really mad and had a fit. We ended up having to leave.

Everyone was looking at us, but oh well. We even got a dirty look in the changing room from an older lady. SORRY! It took both Eric and me to change her, put on a diaper, and get her dried and dressed to go out into the cold winter night. On the way home, we discussed with her that she wasn't nice, and her behavior was unacceptable. (not that she really understood what we were saying) I said, "Tell Mommy and Daddy you're sorry." She said, "Sorry, Daddy." All the way home (the whole 5 min. she was saying, "Not nice- sorry- Daddy- Mommy."

I must add here, too, that Rylie does not fall asleep easily for her naps. Just this Sunday, it took her 2 hours to sleep for 45 minutes. So, we are putting her to bed later (1/2 hr) in hopes she will transfer the missed sleep during her nap. Well, this morning, combined with going to bed later, woke up more than 1/2 hr. earlier, and took only a 50 minute nap. So, she was maybe just tired too.

*I'll upload some videos of her in her "Sunday Best," swimsuit, and some others in later posts.
Right before we left for the YMCA.

One good day together- she's really into her babies.

In her Sunday clothes after church.
